Soon after the release, I began receiving emails from Johnny Depp fans from all over the world. Most notably, Japanese fans were upset and disappointed, that they had purchased poorly made FAKE copies of Mr. Depp’s cuff.
There was much press and print coverage surrounding the release of the popular first “Pirates” film. Likewise, there were many pictures of Johnny Depp—shown wearing his new cuff.
I knew from experience that Japanese clients have an appreciation for Quality and attention to detail. It was unfortunate that they had been fooled by fake bracelet sellers' websites—who were using a photo of Johnny wearing his authentic gbb Cuff!
Having just completed work on Pirates of the Caribbean 4—“On Stranger Tides",I could now deal with the issue of fakes. I created a new version of Johnny's cuff—The “Close to Johnny Cuff.”
