The center of three areas at San Onofre beach is called Old Man's because it is steeped in tradition. California surfing lifestyle took off there in the 1930s, and all through the years the waves have provided a playground for personalities from Hawaiian surf icon Duke Kahanamoku to actor James Arness.
With a cobbled bottom and mushy break
it's the perfect longboard showcase .
After a long day surfing in the sun perhaps the Old man is just on the other side of the trailer, roasting a couple hot dogs on the Hibachi and drinkin' a Corona...can't ya hear the waves breaking and palms rustling as the sun sinks into the Pacific?
