These magnets are loads of fun! Each one was handmade and impressed with one of my handmade stamps. I make some stamps from clay, some from wood, some from linoleum and other print-making blocks, and some are made with silicone molds that i create from things around me; the bark of a tree, the sole of a shoe.... no texture is safe when i am around! Many of these "buttons" were made with the same type of bisque stamps that i sell in my shop.
After each coin was rolled and impressed and fired once, it was glazed in a brightly colored underglaze or glaze which was partially wiped away to reveal the texture, and then coated in a clear gloss. This method of glazing, combined with the highly textured surface is a distinct feature of much of my work.
A strong magnet (not an ordinary craft store magnet- but a super strong one!!) is firmly adhered to the back of each coin. The magnets vary in size from about .75" to 1.5" across.
