Slippers are nice, practical and amazingly comfortable- you will not feel them when walking! After few wears they will take a shape of your feet. I highly recomend to wear slippers on bare feet, cause woolen items have healing properties, can cure feet, joint pain, have a little massage effect.
There is a non slippered latex sole on the bottom.
CAN BE MADE IN ANY SIZE AND COLOR. I'll send a wool color palette to everyone who wants to make an order in other colors. Just let me know your usual shoe size, the length and wide of your feet. It takes approximately a week or two to custom make a pair.
All my creation are unique and one of a kind. Every piece of felt is made by hand and is impossible to make two identical garments. I'll do the best to make slippers very similar to shown in a picture.
Pay attention to the fact, that slippers are suitable just for indoor walking. If you want to walk with them outside, convo with me please to discuss about the other type of the soles.
Materials:
25-30mic New Zealand sheep wool, beads, natural latex. Felted with mild soap, no chemicals were used during the process, made in a smoke and pet free studio.
Care:
Wool is unique natural fiber, because it has ability to clean itself and repel dirt and liquids. You don't need to wash them very often. Slippers can be washed by hand in warm soapy water if needed, sqeezed gently, reshaped on your foot and dryed flat.
NEVER put any felted item in a dryer!
What you should know about beneficial wool properties which have led to its long history of use:
-Insulation. Wool insulates against heat and cold. It is comfortable in both hot and cold weather because it absorbs moisture vapour. The crimp in the wool fibres makes them stand apart from each other trapping insulating air between the fibres. Still air is one of the best insulators found in nature. In hot weather the absorption/evaporation process works to help keep the body cooler.
-Water repellent. Although wool can absorb moisture, it repels liquids. It is naturally hydrophobic. The scales on the outside of the fibre cause liquid to roll off the surface of the fabric. Even if wool does eventually get wet it generates heat and keeps the body warm, not cold and clammy.
-Durable. The interlocking protein molecules in the fibres of wool have the power to elongate, stretch and recover, creating an extremely robust fabric that will last. Each wool fibre is made up of millions of 'coiled springs' that stretch and give rather than break.
-Static resistant. Wool has very little tendency to collect static electricity because wool naturally absorbs moisture from the air. Wool garments are much less likely to 'spark' or cling to the body.
-Dirt resistant. Wool's ability to absorb moisture and therefore its low build-up of static electricity means that wool does not attract lint and dust from the air. The crimp in the fibre and the scales on the outside of the fibre deep dirt from penetrating the fabric.
-Comfort. Wool is comfortable to wear because of its elasticity, and moisture absorbing qualities.
Fashionable. Wool drapes well, is alive, flexible and tailors easily, making it sought after by fashion designers.
How felted garments are made:
Wet felting is a traditional and ancient artform. The process invloves layering wool then agitaing it by massaging with hot soapy water to make a cohesive fabric. The process is very long lasting, labor intensive but creates a strong and durable fabric . Each boot is made using four layers of wool totaling a pound all together. This makes them extremely durable and amazingly warm.
