Enameling is fusing powdered glass to metal at high temperatures. Torch firing allows me to have more control over the process and to observe how the powder melts, flows, and then hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating. I try to avoid chemical pickle between the firings which is better for the environment, although it takes up more time and involves more hand work to finish the enameled piece. As you see my eyes and hands are on it from the beginning to the end.
My studio is located in a small picturesque town not far from Riga, the capital of Latvia (Europe).
