For this clip, rather than using a single piece of wood, I prepared a blank by gluing up layers of two differently colored hardwoods, padauk and maple. As with almost all of my wood items, the colors are natural; no dyes, stains, or paints have been used. I turned it on my lathe, adding some detail cuts for fun, then sanded it extremely smooth and applied two types of finish. It is affixed to a clip with a shiny nickel finish. The colors are natural, no dyes or stains were used. It goes well with a variety of colors of ties and shirts. This clip style will not cause holes in ties (as opposed to tack-style tie accessories), and just plain looks good.
