The Peaceable Kingdom at Twilight Penny Rug is approximately 19 inches square-ish.
Peaceable Kingdom at Twilight features our Tudor Lion and a Wooly Sheep.
This sweetly pretty table mat makes a wonderfully special hostess or house-warming gift. It is large enough to cover the top of an end table, or drape over the back of a wing chair. Tabs can be added to make the rug into a wall hanging. The simple, primitive style of appliqué on our Penny Rugs gives them long-lasting charm.
Made with rich WoolFelt® and remnants of re-purposed felted wool. 100% Hand Made in New York. [made by desiree]
Each cut, pattern and blanket stitch is done by hand in our modest studio -- nestled in the Champlain Valley -- within the vast landscape that is the Adirondack Park. These are heirloom quality home decor items.

The Wool Penny Rug is as much a delight to design as to assemble, with the added satisfaction of being able to — at last — use all those luscious bits of leftover wool. Nothing wasted! Much like quilting, penny rug crafting can be a neighborly pursuit, or a lonesome activity on a cold winter night. Either way, the process is the same. Gently felt the wool, carefully cut the ‘penny’ circles and tabs and hearts and flowers, lay the design flat in front of you and begin the blanket stitch. We find it to be entirely meditative.
And at the conclusion – we have a beautiful bit of Americana to share with friends, family, and trusted clients.
