Natural, organic and beautiful, this Bentwood Chair was handcrafted by me from young grey birch trees and a handful of screws. It is one of a kind and a labor of love. The overall dimensions are 29"wide x 24"deep (72.5x60cm), with a 17"wide x 18"deep (42.5x45cm) seat and a 48" high (120cm) back. It will comfortably fit almost any sized person, large or small.
Here in Canada, Grey birch is primarily a tree of the Atlantic seaboard and is found in the Acadian Forest Region and the eastern parts of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Forest Region. Its bark has a very interesting look, providing various color combinations of reds, whites and greys. These combinations ensure that each piece of furniture crafted is unique and truly beautiful.
No matter how simple, primitive or rustic these twig furnishings may appear to be, they continue to be timeless and a classic in todays world. Perhaps now, even more so than ever, twig style furniture is appreciated for its raw, unprocessed nature (never mind its beauty) especially because of our environmentally conscious times. This chair looks and feels great whether being used outside or inside. If placed outside, please protect it from the elements by keeping it under cover, such as on a covered veranda or in a screened room. Never allow it to remain in damp, moist conditions for a prolonged period of time. With proper care, it will provide many years of enjoyment!
