Vintage Red Straw Hat with Feather Pompom

A cute red and white vintage hat becomes a knockout with the addition of a feather pompom in the front, offset to one side. The hat, from the French Room at Stix, Baer & Fuller (a now defunct department store in St. Louis) is made of man-made straw: cherry red with a white band. It has a small brim that is slightly larger in front. The feathers are stiff and also dyed red with a white stripe in the middle.

The hat also has a red veil, which rather than being attached to the hat is tied in back with a red velvet ribbon (so it may not have been original to the hat). I have left the veil on--it forms a nice effect on the white band--but it could easily be removed. It is torn and I don't think would work pulled down over the face.

Aside from the veil, the hat is in excellent condition.

Size: The hat measures 20 3/4 inches (52.7 cm) around the inside band.
