Soft and so cuddly describe these Folksy Flannels by Anna Maria Horner for Free Spirit Fabrics. They feature golds, pinks, lavenders and fuschias in modern, very new, prints. This handmade quilt measures 46 x 52 and is a perfect size for a baby. It could be used in the crib, on the floor for playtime, or tossed across a chair or couch for lots of color. It would also be welcomed by anyone in a wheelchair to use across their lap.
I machine quilted the quilt with Warm and White cotton batting and quilted in a free motion, all-over loopy-loop design. Lots of swirls and curly-q's. The backing is the beautiful Fortune Sunset from the collection. It has been pieced down the center with leftover strips from the front of the quilt. The scrappy binding is made from leftover strips as well. This is sewn to the front, then turned to the back and hand stitched down to finish.
Like all my quilts, this one has been made to be used and loved. It can be washed in the washer in cool water on a gentle cycle, the dried in the dryer on a low setting. This will create the soft, puckered look of a favorite quilt.
This quilt would make a gorgeous baby shower gift, or Welcome Home gift for a new baby!
