Love how the dress is fitted closely to the body from just under the bust to the top of the hips, where the bubble skirt begins. It has the drama and feel of a flamenco dancer's dress.
Beautifully made, as you'd expect from one of America's true couturiers and leading designers of the period. This piece is from his Boutique line, which was launched in 1984. Although Scaasi Boutique was his ready-to-wear line, dresses were priced at around $1000, and that's 1980s $1000. (His couture dresses were around $5000 at the time.)
Anyway, this is a beautiful high end designer cocktail or party dress, iconic of the period, with a truly great painterly heart print and color palette.

The Condition: Very good. Freshly dry cleaned, zipper glides smoothly. Just a few minor issues to report. Several of the chartreuse hearts are somewhat discolored (I swear they weren't before I took it to the dry cleaners, grr, but I've got a shot of that for you), and there are a couple of pinholes on the lining near the label (which you can see in the label shot).
