This incredible walking suit from the early part of the century is made of a warm, camel colored brown wool. This set dates from around the turn of the century and includes a jacket and matching skirt. Both pieces are accented with decorative taupe silk satin. The high cut jacket features a stunning collar with a spiderweb shape and military inspired details along the front. It closes with a single hook and eye (the hook, however, is missing.) It is lined with silk. The skirt is full at the back with deep pleats from the closure. The wool is bias cut and the wide ruffle makes lovely movement as you walk. It is lined with cotton and closes with two hook and eyes. The color is more brown and less yellow than in the photographs, as showing texture and detail were more important.

This suit is in good, wearable as-is condition with consideration to its age. The wool is sturdy and will hold up well. The silk is shattered in the jacket and the cotton lining of the skirt has some repairs. There is a pencil-eraser sized moth chew in the right arm of the jacket and some light surface mothing. There are moth chew repairs on the skirt that appear to be done with some sort of filler paste, and a few scattered small pinholes and surface mothing. There are three spots hidden in the folds of the back. I have done no repaires or cleaned the suit. It is very striking and quite wearable.
