An updated version of my Twelve Brothers Waldorf calendar. A wooden perpetual calendar that is based on the seasonal focus of the year.
Based on the story "The Twelve Brothers", a folktale from Czechoslova, this is a set of 12 wooden Brothers that represent a month of the year. You can use this calendar perpetually, a great way to celebrate the changing seasons. Suggested color ranges based on the month of the seasonal solstice or equinox
December, January, February- blue shades
March, April, May- green shades
June, July, August- red shades
September, October, November- purple shades
This set will work wonderfully for this wonderful folktale that honors the natural cycle. It also works great for nature tables or as a Waldorf Calendar- a simple natural calendar.
Included is a small wood bowl that is meant to hold nature treasures from the season, and also 2 wooden dice with number stamped that can represent the day of the month. Note that the number 6 and 9 are interchangeable, there is only one 6 stamped that is reversed for #9
All natural materials, the brothers are wood, sanded smooth and finished with AP Certified non-toxic watercolors in the Waldorf Tradition and then sealed with 100% food grade beeswax polish. The hats are felt, a mixture of 100% wool, some wool blends, and a couple acrylic. The wood circle is complete with four pieces- hand stamped and drilled to hold the brothers. Please note that I hand stamp everything, though it may not be machine precision, I hope you enjoy the handmade element to this piece. All comes tidy in a cloth bag.
