This richly textured teapot really stands out! It was made by a combination of processes which give it so much character. For this piece, I use a combination of slab construction and wheel throwing to create the texture which contrast with sleek pottery wheel thrown parts of the form. I added a pulled handle and wheel thrown spout. While this teapot is fully functional and pours very nicely, (not sluggish or too fast), it is more for decoration than meant for everyday use. The lid is wheel thrown. It features a long inset inner rim extension. This so that if you start to pour your tea and forget to hold the lid on, it wont fall into your cup break it.
The tea pot is made from a hazelnut brown stoneware clay body and glazed in a handcrafted cobalt blue glaze which is microwave and dishwasher safe. Whether you keep this on display and only use it on special occasions or use it daily, it is sure to delight you and your guests with its aesthetically pleasing form and functionality.
