This is a basic version of a rigid heddle loom, designed as an introduction loom that is simple for anyone to use. The loom set up is practically the same as a rigid heddle loom except there are no top bars and the reed can only be held in a neutral position on the frame when not being held.
The frame is made from recycled pallet wood (pine) and the roller bars are both made from new pine dowelling. The frame is glued and screwed together for extra strength.
The roller bars are operated with a butterfly nut on each end which winds onto a bolt, fixed inside the ends of the bars.
The reed with this loom is a 10 D.P.I and is 20cm in length.
The metal fixings are all new.
The reed is made by Ashford in New Zealand, (size has been modified for this loom).
Overall dimensions are - length 42.2cm, width 28.4cm and the height - front 14.8cm, rear 18.9cm.
Maximum weaving width is 20cm.
