A Silver Paper Mache Head Bowl with Pink Striped Hair Called Rom

A little punk, a little androgynous, maybe even a little other wordly, Rom is a unique one-of-a-kind paper mache bowl. His face was sculpted onto a balloon form by layering on paper pulp clay and multiple layers of tissue paper, paste, and glue. Rom's silver skin and every strand of his multicolored hair were decoupaged on. Everything in fact, except two small dots on the eyes were created by cutting and arranging paper over the form. To give the hair some dimension, cotton string was glued onto the form before the decorative outer layer was applied. The bowl stands 8 and 1/2 inches tall with a bowl opening 4 and 1/2 inches in diameter and a weight of 14 ounces. Several coats of water based varnish were applied to protect the finish, but please do not expose to liquids.
