oxen eye/ olho-de-boi / telegraph plant / Dioclea violacea - The olho-de-boi is a woody vine with purple flowers which opens in the summer; its large leguminous fruit contains chestnut-colored, plump round seeds. The vine is used as covering in railings, fences and latticework. Its seeds are of mystic importance: it is widely used in amulets against evil eye and to bring good luck. It is used medicinally in the treatment of kidney and prostrate problems.
