The blue of the aquamarine semi-precious stone together with the iridescence of the blue labradorite stone play beautifully together and make a soft combination with the ivory color of the tagua nut. The pictures show both sides of the nut: one with a black marking, the other without. The solid brass chain is 30 inches long and the pendant is 3 inches.
I love the symbolic meaning of seeds: birth, renewal, origin... This pendant makes for a very nice gift: meaningful and beautiful; original and fun. Please let me know if you would like this necklace gift wrapped at no extra cost.
Have you heard about tagua nut? Here is some interesting information:
Uses: Besides its use in the making of jewelry, the tagua nut is often carved in mini sculptures -- you can see some examples here: http://bit.ly/9BgWqo.
In 1900 tagua nut was exported for the manufacture of buttons, but after the Second World War, when plastic was invented, it was replaced by plastic buttons.
Interesting: When the seeds are new they contain a milky substance in their center that is a consumed by natives and fauna. When the seed matures, this liquid turns solid, which makes the tagua perfect for use in crafts.
