Cornelia was such a fun Halloween doll to design and create to share with you. She stands ready to welcome your guests with her black cat candy bag and her Halloween dress inspired by the colors of Candy Corn – one of my favorite Halloween candies!
Cornelia is a make-do doll, mounted on an old wooden candlestick base that has been painted lamp black. She stands 23" tall to the top of her fun witch’s bonnet. Created from muslin, she's been painted top to bottom using acrylics and artist’s pencils, with lots of details in her large, sparkling blue/green eyes and ruby lips. Cornelia's hair is natural white mohair that has been securely needle felted in place with lots of curls and ringlets framing her sweet face.
She's dressed in her very best Halloween dress, empire waist with a full double gathered skirt trimmed in orange and yellow ribbons along the hemline. She has tulle under each layer of her skirt to give her dress lots of fluff.
Cornelia's unique necklace was made using a vintage optical lens. I collaged the "trick or treat" to the back, then added orange German glitter glass around the edge and green rhinestones to the face.
Cornelia's witch bonnet has been painted to coordinate with her outfit and then is trimmed in gathered fabric and orange tulle that match her dress and topped with a ring of black fur. Her hat has been securely stitched in place.
Cornelia’s Trick or Treat bag is made from coordinating fabrics in fun Halloween colors and lined in a black and white polka dot. The black cat has been appliqued to the front of her candy tote and then I hand stitched black fur around the top (which matches her hat so nicely)! It’s so cute, I think I need one in grown up size for myself this Halloween!
