The motif I painted here is one of many which can be found on Vaska situla (Situla of Vace village). The Situla is one of Slovenian archaeological treasures from Hallstatt period (Iron Age).

The painting is made on a 30x40 cm (~11,81 x 15,75 inch) piece of glass. Dimensions with a frame are: 34,7x44,7 cm (~13,66x17,6 inch).

For the main motif I use quality highly transparent glass colours separated with golden relief contours, in combination with “granite” coloured border/paspartou to get a structural, somehow “sandy” surface and nice contrast towards the smoothness of the main glass colours in the central area.

At the bottom of this sand-like border/paspartou you can find signature of mine, my initials crossed one over another, written with contour.

The painting is framed and a hanging-hook is attached. At the back side there is my “AVGUSTvarjanja” label.

I think it is important to emphasize, that colours on the photos may seem a little dull, as it is difficult to capture a realistic flotation of beautiful colours and ever changing reflections of the light on the glass.
