Lovely vase by the Forbes Silver Company, which operated under the Meriden Britannia Co. of Meriden, Connecticut.

The bottom reads: F S Co.(mark)
2980
Patent No.
72884

I did a quick once-over with silver polish just to shine it up a little. There is significant tarnish and some possible loss of plating on the outside of the rounded vase area.

The detail on the filigree is wonderful, complete with scrolling, leafy designs and flowery embellishments. The pattern continues around the base.

Forbes was organized in 1894, and then became a part of the International Silver Company.

Measures 6 1/4" across at top if you include the rolled rim. The mouth of the vase measures 3 1/2" across. Measures 3 3/4" tall from base.
