This game is one of the oldest gameboards known to man. Variants of this game have dated back 3000 years, to ancient Egypt. This game is also known as Merrils. It is a deceptively simple game.
Played by princes and peasants for 3000 years, morris is simple enough for children, yet the strategies can interest an adult. The object is to form "mills"(3 in a row). When you make a mill, you can steal an opponent's piece. You win by reducing an opponent to just 2 men. Early versions were played with 9 pieces, but in the 14th century diagonal lines were added to the board and was played with 12 men.
Gameboards are all the rage now, and look fantastic grouped with other gamboards or displayed as a grouping with other prim items.
Our gameboards are made from solid pine wood with a routed edge. They are painted using Authentic Olde Century Milk Paints. Put through our rigorous prim process to achieve a beautiful time worn aged look. The backs are finished and comes with a saw tooth hanger.
