This wicked little device was used in very early medicine for the purpose of draining a person's blood in an effort to cure them of their ailments.

This particular device dates from the early 1800s-1825. Just about TWO CENTURIES old! All original, brass plated, with all its blades and in working condition. The blades are still sharp and will slice you up like a Christmas ham if you let them.

Measures about 2" x 1.5" x 3" tall.

How this works is you cock the handle, put the flat surface against your skin, then push the button on the side, which releases the blades. The blades move so fast you literally do not even see them. The screw on the top moves the frame of the device up and down, which determines the depth of the slices.

The device is in very good condition overall and displays beautifully. The only issue with this is the push button/stick on the side comes completely out of the device instead of stopping at a certain point. The blades can still be set off by using the button stick to push the trigger. This is a simple device with simple workings - I imagine that this could be repaired (if it really bothers you) by somebody with just a little bit of skill at fixing mechanical things. That person isn't me!
