This necklace is built around a gorgeous geode specimen. This little specimen is about 5/8" across. A geode is a naturally occurring rock formation, which develops a pocket of crystals inside. This geode is a deep charcoal gray, with a dark reddish-brown spotted interior ring. The micro crystals in the centre are pale lavender.

The geode half is bezel set into the cufflinks. I ensure a good, durable join by using jeweler's epoxy in the bezel. To create added protection for the edge of this little specimens, I burnished the top edge of the fine silver bezel over the rim of the geode. The bezel has a brushed finish, created with a stainless steel brush.

I have bookended the geode with little faceted pyrite pieces, and small faceted rubies. The pyrite is embedded and epoxied into the geode. The specimens are all strung through with a sterling silver axle. The are suspended from a sterling silver round-link chain with a hand-forged hook and eye.
