I found this absolutely stunning and sweet fairy panel by Michael Miller, from the estate of Cicely Mary Barker 2008.......and just had to make a unique dress to honor it's greatness!! The fabric panel is called the Hawthorne Fairy........I took it and incorporated 4 different, soft and light-weight fabrics with colors that are witnessed in the fairy panel....of which there are 18 different colors!! That is pretty amazing, considering the average color palate of fabric is about 4 or 5.
The panel itself has an impishly cute fairy surrounded by hawthorn berries and leaves in rich tones of reds, yellows and greens....thier face is so sweet and the the fabulous deep colors are enchanting!
The bodice and top of back are rich red, the back has yellow and a variagated green that is tiered, getting bigger toward the hemline of red fluffy lace. It is all cotton(save for the lace) and rife with fairy playfulness. The strap is 1" wide rich red cotton.
What makes my design so great is the super long cotton strap that can be tied how ever you like corset style or just one big bow, tuck it in or leave it out.....The strap is one piece so you can lower the bodice or you modest gals can have it higher to cover up(my sister even wears a bra with hers). The chest measurement on this one is 42" and with the ties can be cinched down with sexy gathering to a 30" bust. It is 47" long, has a 46" hip, with an 80" hemline.
Sweet summer shift for hanging with friends, or going to music festivals or take her out on the town with some sexy summer heels. Nice weight fabric lends to cool-ness where ever you may wander!!
I have sold my design of this dress to many gals of different sizes. Each looks different, but it is flattering on all of them due to the great straps and it's soft, cotton fabric that drapes so nicely.
This would be great and cool for summer on an expecting momma as it allows for extra breast size and a plump tummy bulge!
Designed, Sewn, topstitched and serged with care, machine wash gentle cycle to preserve fabric, machine dry or BEST...to just hang to dry
