This is a lab grown gem.
We are seeing LOTS of hydrothermal (corundum) gems on Etsy. Unfortunately many sellers are not being HONEST and are touting these gems as natural. You can be assured that any AAA Ruby, London blue, Swiss blue, Pink Topaz (etc) gems this large that are not well over $100’s are corundum.
It’s actually illegal to sell a gem and not disclose if it is lab created but many gem sellers on etsy are doing just that.
Please forgive my mini rant but I am saddened at the lack of ethics shown by some gemstone sellers here lately. Buyer always beware I guess.
I have always been honest about treatments and my gems and will always continue to do so.

This lab process allows the production of flawless Sapphires, Rubies and Topaz in all shades imaginable.
It allows the production of gems of much larger size than normally found in nature. It is possible to grow huge gem-quality corundum (also called hydrothermal) because of the simplicity of the methods involved in corundum synthesis. Large quantities of these crystals have become available on the market causing a significant reduction of price in recent years.

Here you have a brilliant very interesting step faceted hex shaped gem. The gem is the different on each side. The front is cut like a solitaire diamond. The back is step cut down into a point. I have shot both sides of the gems for you.
