Bee Ball occurred one day when I was preparing stencils for a larger serigraph (Bee Pile) at Modern Multiples. It was one of those flashes of inspiration one gets..... I was repeatedly stamping bees and I smeared three in a row. Frustrated, I took a step back and asked the universe.....what are you trying to tell me!?? Then I saw how awesome each bee looked when I wiped half of it off the film. I liked the smear effect. Immediately I called for a fresh piece of acetate. I began creating a ball shape of half smeared bees, I named it BBall! The printer saw the acetate and was immediately inspired to print the image. We experimented by printing the image layered in four colors, making a vibrant cluster. - Sonia Romero
