Why these ingredients:
Coconut oil is “the darling oil of the soaping world”, this oil contributes abundant rich creamy lather to soap, lathering even in the hardest water, even in seawater; good cleansing properties, mildness, a hard and long lasting bar, and emolliency. It provides quick fluffy lather that also rinses clean.
Palm kernel oil (due to many concerns regarding sustainable palm and palm kernel oils, this oil is being weeded out with each batch made presently and substituted with Babassu oil.) has a high percentage of lauric acid which allows it to produce a hard soap with good lather. It also contributes whiteness, stable lather, and resists oxidation. Palm kernel lends a smooth texture to soap that regular palm oil does not and is less drying than coconut oil.
Sodium hydroxide solution is sodium lye in distilled water.
Avocado oil soothes and softens skin; deeply penetrating and has extra vitamins A, B1, B2, D, and E, pantothenic acid, essential fatty acids, proteins, lecithin, and amino acids. Healing to skin and scalp, a rich, heavy oil working best with other oils; and is moisturizing, nourishing, regenerative, antibacterial, and antifungal. In soap, it is high in unsaponifiables; therefore, many properties of this oil may come through in soaps with this ingredient.
Castor oil provides creamy fine bubble lather and plenty of glycerin; it produces a clean, light colored soap with a stable lather; drying and hardening well with no odor.
Olive oil creates a long lasting, non drying and very mild soap with creamy lather – and no other soap making oil contributes its unique set of characteristics.
Sunflower oil is used as an effective substitute for olive oil; provides stable lather and conditioning to soap; provides a high vitamin e content.
Cocoa butter provides extra hardening in soaps and with the unsaponifiables, a rich moisturizer.
Pumpkin spice and cinnamon powder provide exfoliating properties.
Essential oils of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger provide aromatic pleasure.
