The patchwork top was pieced by machine using cotton prints; broadcloth was used for the back; and cotton batting was used as the filler. The three layers were then quilted by hand. The pieced binding was machine stiched to the front then hand stiched to the back which gives a nice finish to its edges. To give the quilt an "antique", "wrinkled" look, it was then washed and dried several times so that the cotton batting (which was not pre-washed) would shrink and slightly crumple up inside. The entire quilt measures approximately 50"x66" (125cm x 165cm), small enough to use as a lap quilt and large enough to be useful on a bed.
It's absolutely perfect for curling up with at the end of a hectic day...
