I handcraft the focal bead so it resembles an old world map graphic, but in fact is made of 10 to 20 tiny, torn map paper pieces per bead. The pieces, with their fibrous edges, are then matched together so they blend together nicely.
The result is a reassembled world of peace -- one without distinct continents, borders, boundaries or identifiable resources to fight over.
The center of the bead is sustainable northern birch wood. The bead also has an antique patina and is finished with several coats of varnish.
"The World is Oval" earrings dangle about 1-inch from French hooks, decorated with copper and antique bronze ornaments. And they are one of a kind.
