This pendant was made using a technique called freeze n fuse. Powdered glass is mixed with just enough water to hold it together. It is then packed into a candy mold, and excess water which rises to the top is carefully removed. The mold is then placed in the freezer for about one hour. The molds are then popped out onto the kiln shelf and immediately fused using a special fusing program. The glass is then properly annealed. More information on this procedure can be found on the web at http://calyxann.com/tutorials/freeze_fuse.htm. After fusing, rough edges were ground using a diamond tipped rotary tool. Please note that this procedure produces fused glass with a bit of texture to it, so it is not as smooth as traditional full fused glass.
The ghost pendant is 1 3/4 inches high, 1 1/2 inches wide and 3/8 inches thick. A small sterling plated Aanraku bail is glued to the back. The bail has an opening size of 3 mm by 4 mm.
The ghost pendant comes with a 24" silver colored ball chain.
