Here is a pair of collectable mod small plates designed by Eve Midwinter for the Stonehenge shape using her custom speckled glaze called Creation that has specks of brown and a brown bleeding rim around the plates and the inner sun orange and yellow circles. The glaze effects are quintessentially early 1970s, very down-to-earth and organic with soft lines that bleed color into color, kind of like tie-dye. These yellow and orange plates were part of the Sun line of tableware, which was a part of the series that also included Moon (blues) and Earth (browns) that all have a handcrafted quality.
The British Midwinter Potters started in 1910 by Roy Midwinter who later married artist Eve. (Yes, Midwinter was actually their name!). They were bought by Wedgwood in 1970.
Sale is for 2 pates. They measure 9" in diameter and are in very good condition.
