Each growth chart is an original design, handmade made by me. The entire process, after the initial sketch is complete, takes around a total of 12 hours. Once the designing is complete and the pattern is made, a single piece takes only half that time to complete. All the fabric pieces are hand cut, pinned in place to a layer of quilters batting, and then machine stitched. From here, I do all the cording with yarn made from recycled bottles! (Each cut end is treated to reduce fraying.) Then the eyes and measuring tape are glued and hand stitched on. The backing is sewn on in a coordinating fabric, and I stitch on small metal hangers that the hanging ribbon is tied on to. The last two details are the label stitched to the back ( my Knee High To A Shoofly card ) and a two sided tape is placed around all the edges so that the piece can hang flat and secure to the wall when it is hung. The tape is a special tape made to be permanent to the fabric, yet removable from your walls without damaging the paint! Each piece is made with care and attention to detail and will be a sweet keepsake for years to come.
Children can start marking their height from the time they are 24” (usually not long after birth) to the time they reach 5 feet (which average around age 12!) Each chart measures approximately 18" wide by 3' high.
Height measurement can be recorded on a height stick and attached with a drop of glue. Twenty are included with each Growth Chart, and more can be ordered. There's no need to worry about messing up because you are not writing directly on the chart!
You can add even more of a personal touch by having the child's name added! There is no additional charge for this. Leave the name with the correct spelling in the note to seller at the time of purchase. Also, please specify the color you would like for the height sticks: leaf green, teddy bear tan, purple lilac, country grey, summer blue, or oak stain. If no color is specified with your order, the color shown in the picture will be shipped.
