The rosary appears quite old and consists of beautiful oval beads out of ebony wood, accented by carved rosette ebony beads. It includes the original crucifix (ebony and silver-tone metal with a brass Christ) and a central medal in brass with Mary on one side and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the other. (Note that I'm not an expert, but I have a nearly identical rosary marked Ebony, France, so I'm reasonably certain the rosary and beads are ebony.)
Below the central medal, I've attached a short chain from another rosary with purple glass or rock crystal beads, roughly faceted. At the end of this is a rusty cabinet key.
Further up the necklace, 2 to 3 inches above the medal, I've attached a wire-wrapped applejuice bakelite ball button that was hand-painted with a red and blue design (i.e., it was originally painted like this, not painted by me). On the other side is another religious medal with the Virgin of Carmel and baby Jesus on one side and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the other.
This necklace is long and dramatic. The necklace down to the bottom of the central medal is 30 inches long (76.2 cm). The crucifix dangles about 5 1/2 inches below that (14 cm). The total length of the necklace from the back of your neck is about 21 inches (53.2 cm). I could shorten it somewhat if you prefer.
All of my jewelry comes packaged in colorful hand-made pouches--ready for gift-giving, but easy to open if you want to peek first.
