This 2000-year old recipe for Kyphi is handcrafted by the witch and her apprentice using Plutarch's instructions and sixteen different traditional herbs, spices, resins, fruits, and honey wine. Kyphi is an ancient traditional incense from Egypt made from raisins soaked in wine after which resins and herbs are added and a little honey. The whole process of properly handcrafting Kyphi incense takes about one month. This is needed to achieve the proper consistency and an even blending of the multi-layered scents.

Kyphi was mainly burned as an offering to deities, especially at dusk - that liminal time when the sun is setting. If you follow an Egyptian path it will be well received by your gods. It was also burned during healing rituals, the ancients perhaps believe its strong scent would chase away any evil spirits causing illness. This traditional Kyphi smells very strong indeed and will erase any current belief you have about incense as this may be the best and richest incense you've ever experienced.

Be sure to burn a larger whole chunk on the charcoal as Kyphi is design to burn slowly to release all its complex scents. Do not crumble it or break it up over the charcoal or it will too quickly turn to charred ash.

Ingredients: Honey wine, honey, raisins, asphalt, myrrh, frankincense, pine resin, cedar, juniper, sweet calamus, cardamon, orris root, jasmine, dock, anise, and atropa belladonna.
