It all started at lake Turkana, a sweltering hot nothern part of Kenya which slightly resembles the landscape of the moon. The Turkana are similar to the Samburu and Masai, but generally wear more blue and green beads. I bought a pair of earrings a woman was wearing in the tops of her ears-see the Turkana Woman portrait. The simple beauty of its organic shape struck me.
This is a sterling silver cast replica of one of the earrings I purchased that day, with a loop added to the top so you can wear it as a pendant.
May be strung on a leather cord, by request.
