The car appliqued and freehand embroidered is a classic French icon, car of my childhood, a Citorën 2CV. It is fully loaded with suitcases on the roof ready to cross borders and explore.
The body of the car is made from vintage bed linen fabric, and appliqued onto duck egg/teal linen. The suitcases are made from various recycled and new fabrics.
The embroidery is done using a basic sewing machine fitted with a freehand embroidery foot. I cut the fabric to be appliqued and 'draw' freehand straight onto the fabric using black thread.
This piece is mounted on a 8"(21cm) embroidery hoop (made in Britain).
Ready to hang.
Each hoop is unique due to the nature of freehand machine embroidery, which we think adds to the charm. There will be slight variations from the photos shown.
