One Thousand Flowers Plus One glass and linen necklace was the original title for this unique, handmade piece by WillOaks Studio. Mille fiori is Italian for a thousand flowers and it's also a specialty glass that has a flowery pattern from the way the glass has been made. The glass pendant was the inspiration for this piece. "Plus one" refers to the blossom stamped on the fine silver charm that flanks the glass pendant. Both have been captured in a bail that I fabricated from sterling silver that includes a loop where a trio of strands of tough waxed Irish linen are hitched in and then braided to include lots of tiny Czech glass beads in a cobalt blue that matches the blue glass in the pendant.
This cobalt blue and white glass pendant includes tiny white flowers against a deep blue background all floating in a clear glass base. The braided chain is very reminiscent of narrow grosgrain ribbon with a dainty textured edge. It features tiny deep cobalt blue transparent glass beads and medium gray linen fiber.
The pendant is 1" in diameter and drops 1 7/8" from the bottom of the braided chain. The chain closes with a sterling lobster claw and extension chain that has been bound to the ends of the braid with sterling silver wire. The chain adjusts from 20" to 20 1/2" and a beautiful blue lapis lazuli disc dangles from the end of the extension chain. This edition is 5 pieces and two are still available.

Linen is one of the toughest, most durable natural fibers that's commonly and historically used for clothing. And Irish linen is some of the finest (and costliest) in the world. The necklace is easily hand washed if needed in cold water, blotted, and then air dried.
