Sunset Raven is a gorgeous soft fiber arts container featuring yellow banana silk yarn, hand painted rayon yarn, and hand dyed cotton / hemp yarn. It has a lid of its own which has been embellished with a ceramic raven and a manzanita wood branch.
When a raven suddenly appears out of nowhere... its usually significant & noteworthy. Ravens are mystical that way and symbolize the internal process of transformation... usually the kind that leads to spiritual rebirth. I'm fortunate enough to be visited by ravens on a weekly basis, when they do they come in pairs or flocks up to seven... weaving in & out of formation and calling: caw caw... can you hear their voices within ?
Sunset Raven measures approx: 3" in diameter x 2 1/2" high with an interior of 2 3/8" in diameter x 1 1/2" high. Its raw silk weight is roughly 1.2 oz (32 g).
Sunset Raven will be gift wrapped in its own box and ships, without content, via USPS First class INSURED mail. Shipments within the USA will have delivery confirmations.

What is Silk Tapestry ?
Brizel Silk Tapestry is a technique that was developed by me in order to create woven rug-like thicknesses without the use of a loom. I wanted to work in spiral formation since most of my motifs are round in nature... i wanted the flow, form & color to follow that pattern... so I adapted upon crochet... when using a crochet hook, each thick silk yarn loop is pulled tightly before I can make the next one... so that the end result is very thick and dense.
The creation of a Brizel Silk Tapestry piece is both a conscientious & effortful act... in other words all that pulling & tugging is hard work on the hands, wrists and arm muscles!
The silk yarns that I use to create Silk Tapestry products are made from reclaimed silk threads and loom warps, left overs from a silk sari garment factories... these are reclaimed and hand spun into gorgeous thick sport weight yarns.
For vegan Silk Tapestry Boxes I use rayon; cotton/hemp; and banana silk yarn, a silk like yarn made from banana fibers. Please note the vegan boxes are typically softer in terms of weight & shape.
