This is a head-turner, no doubt about it. Silk and wool are married in this exquisitely colored piece. I call it The “Hot Mess” because it is so gorgeously colored, and so bright.
Each piece of chiffon is joined with 100% Merino wool and silk roving. The fabric is 100% silk chiffon. Merino wool is soft and NEVER itchy on the skin, that is why I use it in all my work. SUPER lightweight, and drapes like a dream.
You may wrap it around your shoulders for a light wrap, or scrunch it up to wear around your neck for a fabulous scarf.
The wrinkles and ruffles are caused by the wool shrinking and taking the fabric along with it. The process is called “nuno felting.” It is a hand done process without machines, sewing or knitting of any kind. All manual labor, and quite physical, taking hours and hours of work per piece.
