This pendant was inspired by sun disk imagery on artifacts from the Mississippian Culture around 800 - 1500 AD. The Mississippians, or Temple Mound Builders, believed in the sun as their principal deity. This copper pendant, which I made from copper metal clay, is reversible with one side being polished and shiny and the other side left the more earthy unpolished browns and oranges. Eventually the shine will tarnish, like a new penny, but it can be polished with a jewelry cloth to bring back the shine. The disk is approximately 1 and 3/4 inches in diameter and hangs on a 24 inch natural greek leather cord. The cord fastens with bronze crimp ends and a bronze s-hook.
I have designed other artifact inspired jewelry which can be seen in my Etsy shop at http://www.dklStudios.etsy.com
