I lived in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn for over a decade, about two blocks from this amazing Russian Orthodox Church. During that time, I saw this National Landmark (it really is!) first preside over blocks of plumbing supply stores and moribund industrial buildings, and then later condos, vintage stores, and organic groceries. I always meant to paint it. Recently, someone pointed out that another recent piece ("What Smell"?
http://www.etsy.com/shop/jfoxstudio) had forms in it that reminded them of one of those onion domes. It was clearly time.
The piece is oil on canvas,20"x24", and painted entirely on site in McCarren Park, Williamsburg.
