SAND DUNES: This is a 6 piece medley in warm pastel neutrals. I dyed three pure "parent" neutrals (Bisque, Toasted Almond and Sandalwood), plus three intermediaries, so these all coordinate seamlessly. These fabrics feature beautiful visual texture that resembles suede leather or crushed velvet. Best of all, this warm, earthy spectrum is dyed on our sumptuous sandwashed broadcloth. It looks like suede, feels like peachskin, yet is as easy to care for and work with as cotton sheeting. This is an very finely woven cotton that is very stable and has a very low tendency to stretch, warp or ravel. It has a brushed surface on one side and a flat surface on the other, giving you twice the design possibilities. This is an excellent quilt fabric (makes luxurious quilts that look like suede), and works very well for dollmaking (soft as baby's skin), clothing and accessories, home decorating, and innumerable other uses. (Special note to dollmakers and portrait quilters: Although this is not a fleshtones assortment, many of the pieces in this medley would be suitable for depicting lighter skintones.)
This is the paler sister to the "Earthy Browns" and "Pebbles" medleys currently offered (shown in the 3rd and 4th photos). Combined, these three groupings make up the 18 piece "Brown Suedes" color wheel shown in the 2nd photo.
Don't see what you need in my listings? Drop me a note! I love to hear from fellow quilters and fiber artists, and am delighted to fill special orders. I keep detailed notes and, while I cannot guarantee exact color matches from dye lot to dye lot, I can usually closely approximate previous work and can often meet your specific needs. I dye on unbleached muslin, dyer's cloth, Kona cotton, Pimatex, sandwashed (sueded) broadcloth, flannel, rayon, bamboo and wool. Need another base fabric not mentioned here? If it's a natural fiber, I've got ya covered!
