Fashion cakes usually love to have one large bloom, such as this peony, to give a deliberate, beautiful impact. It looks great on top or on the side of any wedding cake, modern or classic.
The peony is a very detailed flower as it takes several petals to form out of a gumpaste/fondant mix. 10-15 individual petals sized from small, medium and large are carefully cut and veined and then dried on rounds. This drying process takes about 2 days. Then the fragile petals are individually wired onto loops of thread in succession of small to large. Once formed, the tips are artfully dusted in any color you wish.
