We Never Sleep We Never Sleep We Never Sleep We Never Sleep We Never Sleep
Harold Haller, honored his daily routine religiously. He'd awaken, kiss his wife, woke his son Harry Jnr. for school, made himself a buttered roll and headed off to work...
On this day there was a storm that caused him to turn off his usual walking route and heard the low rumble of chanting. He took shelter in the shadows of an old stone building entrance when he decided to let himself in. He followed the sounds and a man greeted him, "Harold...we've been waiting so long to have you here". How did he know him? Who was he? Where had he stumbled and why? From this day forth the normalcy of each day would take on another duty as "cover".

I LOVE this antique, masonic locket. I have only found one remotely like it before. It is from 1920, it's double sided in design. One side depicts an owl perched on a sword that reads inside, "We Never Sleep" and floats above a pyramid with Arabic text and the name "Xerxes" (Persian king Darius' son and succeeder, 485 BC). There is also a camel, palm trees and a fez. Information about the fraternal group: Oriental Order of Humility and Perfection, was a group founded c.1880 for Odd Fellows whose motto was "We Never Sleep." The ritual was based on the legend of Xerxes. In 1924 the O.O.H. & P. was amalgamated into the Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans (A.M.O.S.) along with several other Odd Fellows clubs and side degrees.

The other side of the locket has an enlarged image of the Xerxes pyramid. Inside the locket is a photo a a man who really looks quite interesting and has a youthful cuteness to him. The other side of the inside locket has the fraternal member ID information, including the name H. Haller. The necklace it is set on is a combination of fabulous strands of lucite beads and faux pearls and I have added textured sterling-plate metal chain, from the back I added an extension with a chandelier crystal dangling about.
