This is a handmade relief linoleum print with a cyanotype background. The cyanotypes were a way for me to think about mood and place within the context of the relief print. Each cyanotype is different and the one photographed is the one you will be sent.
It is 36"x24" and printed on a thin Japanese Kitakata paper. It is a bleed print so the image extends to the edges of the paper. This print will be shipped rolled and insured.
The image is of a tree taken in the Smokey Mountains on a winter evening as the sun was going down. In my work I have been exploring a connection between trees and spirituality. I am interested in how our perception of forest changes in relation to the time of day, specifically at dusk. There is something about experincing the forest at night that can bring up ideas of vulnerability and the experience of the unknown, while at the same time continuing to address beauty and landscape.
