i Do NOT do custom work. But months ago Rebekah sweetalked me into it...and as much as i ADORE your bribes -a chinchilla?! haha)- i really really cant do custom right now - this was a special exception. It has taken me forever to finally come up with the perfect "iInfinity" coat, fit for Rebekah's world ramble.
This coat was constructed with much love and collaboration with a kindred spirit, who is also a world hitchhiker like myself (high five, badass mama!) It is designed to roam the Mongolian planes, hike the Patagonia, and get lost on the ancient silk route. Rebekah, I want you to rock this M-Fing sweater all over the world! yay!
I filled this coat with many blessings from my own travels. There are intricately hand embroidered Hmong stars that I first fell in love with years ago while volunteering in Thailand. There are teensy felt pom poms that stowed away in my backpack from Kathmandu. The deep purple wool traveled with me from my beloved Ecuador.Even a button from my grandmother, who was another epic world traveller.
My favorite thing about this coat was the magic - It is a game of numbers, which is why we came to call it "The Infinity Coat". There are 365 separate crazyquilt patches on it, one for each day of the year. The hem is a ridiculous TWENTY-THREE feet long, because, well, 23 a special number. There are 7 lucky Hmong stars, and 9 appliques stars for the nine lives that a hitchhiker needs.
The bodice is extra thick boiled woollind with blood red cashmere, to get you through the cold desert nights. The coat is teeming with hidden pockets so that you will always find something in it to save you when times get tough. The skirt twirls out magnifiscnetly to assure that you will be the belle of any ball.
As requested, your favorite zippy hoodie has been upcycled right into this, so you will begin your journey with something old and blue and familiar.
Rebekah, I wish you all the best on your world wandering! i am so thrilled a little piece of me get to travel with you. As we discussed, please take all the time you need to pay, and if the money doesn't arrive, then please just pay it forward with your smile and kindness.
