Wolf is an icon in American wilderness and yet... she is so grossly misunderstood & misrepresented in legends that this wild dog is now endangered. Wolf actually is hugely intelligent, very friendly & sociable (once trust has been duly earned) and extremely family oriented. As an animal guide, Wolf teaches us how to create harmony with one's surroundings not only with the powers of instinct & intuition but also through adaptability. What is Silk Tapestry ?
Brizel Silk Tapestry is a technique that was developed by me in order to create woven rug-like thicknesses without the use of a loom. I wanted to work in spiral formation since most of my motifs are round in nature... i wanted the flow, form & color to follow that pattern... so I adapted upon crochet... when using a crochet hook, each thick silk yarn loop is pulled tightly before I can make the next one... so that the end result is very thick and dense.
The creation of a Brizel Silk Tapestry piece is both a conscientious & effortful act... in other words all that pulling & tugging is hard work on the hands, wrists and arm muscles!
The silk yarns that I use to create Silk Tapestry products are made from reclaimed silk threads and loom warps, left overs from a silk sari garment factories... these are reclaimed and hand spun into gorgeous thick sport weight yarns.
For vegan Silk Tapestry Boxes I use rayon; cotton/hemp; and banana silk yarn, a silk like yarn made from banana fibers. Please note the vegan boxes are typically softer in terms of weight & shape.
