If you've ever wondered what it's like to run a shop like this on Etsy, then this book is your window. This is the story of my first years on Etsy complete with all of the bumps, bruises, and triumphs along the way. And it's also the story of my experiences as a seller on ArtFire, 1000Markets, and Zibbet. I've updated the book to reflect changes in the handmade market and to help you choose additional venues should you want to branch out. There's also information about communities you can join that aren't necessarily venues.
If you're looking for a laundry list on how to run your shop, you'll find that in this book, however, be warned...you'll be laughing (at me and yourself) along the way. I'm not responsible if the beverage of your choice accidentally spews out of your nose while reading. (It'll be so worth it, though...)
In this book you'll get tips on how to set up a great shop including the importance of product pictures, how to bring in those first sales when you feel like you're floundering, understanding the customer and the marketplace, ideas on marketing materials, tagging, pricing, feedback, promoting your shop including blogging and Twitter, wholesale/custom/bulk orders and breaking down the process of branding and finding your niche.
You'll also find examples of convos to send to late or non-paying buyers as well as concrete examples of comprehensive marketing materials that will yield the results that you want for your shop!
There's also a considerable amount of time devoted to understanding, getting and making a Treasury, including how to use the poster sketch tool and the long-term benefits of participating in the Treasury process.
There are lots of words, but also lots of pictures, so you can speed right along. There are a ton of links so that you can go straight to the source and lots of advice to help you make decisions about your shop.
This book is a labor of love, not just a list of answers to FAQs. I hope it will inspire you and help to renew your energy and fine-tune your shop focus! While there is some step-by-step information in it about various subjects that people struggle with, it also reflects a 'big picture' view as well.
