Day of the Dead Sugar Skull decoration garland, Mexican folk art
7 embroidered Day of the Dead sugar skulls, made of black and white wool felt, dangle whimsically from a strand of sturdy white cotton cord. Each skull is 2" x 2 1/2" (5 x 6.5cm). The cord reaches 5 feet (1.524 m) across and you can arrange the placement of each skull as you like.
Each skull is hand cut, hand embroidered and hand stuffed with individual expressions that may or may not resemble past and present loved ones. You may receive slight variations from the images shown. I've also added a couple colorful accents to a few of the skulls to 'pop' the black and white even more. Hopefully you can see in the photos that my embroidery is lovingly detailed and delicate and worthy of your investment in an heirloom decoration.
Don't forget to brighten those small areas like your bathroom or enhance a special "Day of the Dead" altar.
I have so much fun making these little guys. They never come out the same and each group reminds me of all the different and interesting people in this wonderful world. As an artist, I love playing with primitive, naive and childlike forms, slipping in a little humor along the way.
Each strand comes in a small cotton bag for storage and/or gift-giving. Thanks for looking!
